Choosing a martial arts school is a personal decision. Here are answers to common questions from parents and new students.
Where is KT Taekwondo?
We are at 30B Cottage Place in downtown Ridgewood, New Jersey 07450. Free parking is available behind Walgreens. Use the contact page for directions.
What ages can start?
Our Pee Wee program is for ages 4–6. We also welcome children, teens, adults, and families. Tell us the student’s age and experience so we can recommend a class.
Is the trial class free?
The school offers a free trial. Submit a request and we’ll contact you to recommend a class and confirm the visit. Submitting the form is a request, not a confirmed reservation.
Do beginners need experience?
No previous Taekwondo experience is needed to request a beginner trial. Returning students should tell us about their previous training.
What should we wear or bring?
Ask the school to confirm clothing, footwear, and anything to bring when your trial is arranged. You do not need to choose or purchase a uniform through this website.
Can parents watch the class?
Tell us that you would like to observe when arranging the trial. We’ll explain the viewing arrangements for the class and answer questions about the school.
How often should a student attend?
The right routine depends on the student’s age, experience, goals, and availability. Discuss a realistic weekly schedule with Master Kim after the trial.
How much does enrollment cost?
Contact KT for current tuition, enrollment options, and any uniform or testing costs. We’ll help you understand the full commitment before choosing a program.
How do you choose a class safely?
Class placement takes age and experience into account. Share relevant participation needs directly with the instructor before class and ask about supervision, contact activities, and equipment. Please do not put medical information in the website form.
How long does it take to earn a black belt?
Progress varies with experience, attendance, and readiness. Ask Master Kim about the curriculum and promotion expectations for the student’s program; the website does not promise a fixed timeline.
Do you teach karate or Taekwondo?
KT teaches traditional Korean Taekwondo. If you are comparing karate and other martial arts schools, a trial is a useful way to understand the differences in instruction and atmosphere.
